Calderdale College – Gaming Suite

Calderdale College is a further and higher education college supporting students across a broad range of academic, vocational and technical pathways. As part of its continued investment in specialist learning environments, the College created a dedicated gaming room designed to support students studying gaming, esports and digital technologies.

Bates Studio was appointed to supply the furniture for the new gaming space, working to the requirements of the wider project team. The brief called for furniture that would be robust, practical and suited to the demands of a high-use educational gaming environment, while also complementing the bold visual identity of the finished room.

The completed space features a series of gaming workstations arranged to support both individual gameplay and group-based activity. Bates Studio supplied specialist gaming chairs and desking to provide students with comfortable, functional settings for extended periods of use. The selected furniture supports the technical requirements of the space, with generous worksurfaces for monitors, keyboards, gaming PCs and accessories.

Durability and performance were key considerations throughout. The furniture needed to withstand regular use by multiple students while maintaining comfort, stability and a professional appearance. The gaming chairs provide supportive seating for focused learning and gameplay, while the desks create a clean, practical layout that allows equipment to be positioned effectively and accessed with ease.

The furniture also contributes to the immersive feel of the room. Black finishes, specialist seating and the structured workstation layout sit comfortably alongside the College’s graphic wall treatment, exposed brickwork, lighting and technology-led environment. The result is a purposeful and engaging space that feels aligned with the expectations of modern gaming and esports facilities.

Bates Studio coordinated the supply of the furniture in line with the project programme, ensuring that items were delivered and installed efficiently. The completed gaming room now provides Calderdale College with a specialist teaching and enrichment space that supports digital learning, collaboration and student engagement.
